The Inspector for Leadership & Management commented “In my 10 years of inspecting, Andrew Collinge Training is the best provision I’ve ever seen.”

Will hairdressing suit me?
Hairdressing is a fast moving, fashion orientated business, so you will need to be creative, have artistic ability, enjoy meeting people, have a natural aptitude and plenty of energy.
What qualifications do I need?
You don’t have to be the academic type, although an average level of English and Maths is important, together with the ability to take an active part in studying for your hairdressing qualification.
With us you can go as far as your talent will take you. Our top quality training will give you valuable National Vocational Qualifications (NVQs). You will start your hairdressing career on an Apprenticeship in Hairdressing to achieve NVQ at Level 2, usually over 21 to 24 months. You will cover every aspect of hairdressing including cutting and styling, fashion colouring and perming techniques. You will also learn about customer care, reception and retailing. The Apprenticeship programme also includes Functional Skills which includes Maths and English. Certain GCSE grades carry exemptions from Functional Skills. You may also have the opportunity to move onto an Advanced Apprenticeship in Hairdressing. This gives you a higher level of hairdressing skills to NVQ level 3, the opportunity to learn more about creative hairdressing as well as involvement in hair shows and photoshoots.
What will I do?
You will be working in one of a number of selected hairdressing salons throughout Merseyside including Wirral, Lancashire, Cheshire and Manchester. This will give you an invaluable experience in dealing with clients and working as part of a team. Your salon will help with your training on a daily basis and offer styling sessions for you to practice your skills.
How do I learn?
On day release tuition in our superbly equipped training centres in Liverpool or Birkenhead. Our experienced tutors will give you theory and practice in every aspect of hairdressing. Our Training Salons run on a commercial basis in busy shopping areas, so you will have every opportunity to work on ‘real’ clients early on in your training.
What else does the training offer?
One of the advantages of joining Andrew Collinge Training is you will have the opportunity to participate in specialised courses such as dressing long hair, barbering, colouring and retail, enter Intersalon Competitions and observe demonstrations by the Andrew Collinge Artistic Team.
