The arrival of summer sun can cause havoc on our everyday style and whilst long loose hair looks great, it’s not always ideal in higher temperatures. We give you our top 3 updos for summer 2017.
Braids for Summer 2017
Certain styles come and go, but it seems braids are still on trend for summer 2017. The catwalks have seen micro braids incorporated into ponytails, braided chignons and classic double braids, however it was the braided cornrows used by Balmain and Dior that reignited our love affair with the hairstyle. These collections demonstrated how the simple addition of a few braids can instantly refresh the everyday updo, bringing it straight into 2017.
The Tousled Updo
Strike the perfect balance between chic and comfortable this summer with a tousled updo. Jenny packham, Huishan-Zhang and Preen all featured heavily mussed hairstyles in their 2017 collections and we saw a clear shift towards the unkempt finish. To get the look, we recommend using CO Invisible Dry Shampoo to give the hair plenty of texture, and consider wanding the hair beforehand. Loosely twist and pin hair as you feel suits and finish with a generous dose of CO Firm Hold Hairspray.
90's Double Top Knots
Summer 2017 has seen a resurgence of 90’s trends. Whilst the single topknot enjoyed its time in the limelight, it’s taken a backseat and we’ve seen the double top knot become a go to style for many. Championed by Gwen Stefani and Bjork in the mid-90’s, this playful updo was also seen on the 2017 catwalks where Jeremy Scott teamed the look with choker necklaces and Anna Sui used the style to complement bold makeup choices. This easy to create hairstyle works with both short and long hair and is a great way to sweep hair from the face in hotter weather. For a smoother finish, rub a little CO by Andrew Collinge Definer into your fingers and lightly brush over the hair. This will tame any flyaway hairs, giving you the perfect smooth finish.
