Beach Hair for Summer 2017

We’ve seen a shift towards textured hairstyles in 2017 and even before beach season began, tousled hair had become the hairstyle of choice on many a spring summer catwalk.

One of the standout SS17 shows saw Alexander Wang bleach models hair and completely transform their looks. Hairstylist Guido Paulo stated his inspiration for this collection as the classic surfer girl look and his hairstyles were heavily textured, with plenty of teasing, twisting and roughed up beach waves.

Forget the idea of the perfect finish, as the tousled beach hair trend is all about creating the illusion of being undone and effortless. It will lend itself well to the beach where the elements have a tendency to play havoc with your hair.

There are a few key products you can use to help you achieve beach waves. CO by Andrew Collinge Volume mousse is the ideal product for diffusing hair to create beach waves, curls and natural texture. It will help you add volume and hold to your style without adding any heaviness in the hair. Our Volume Mousse has been made with extra conditioners whilst it also provides UV protection for your hair, making it the perfect product to use when hitting the beach.

CO by Andrew Collinge Hair Moisturiser is another convenient product to use between washes as it can be spritzed into the hair any time to replace lost moisture and will act as a leave in conditioner. On hot summer days it will rejuvenate hair and restore its vitality.

Another key hair trend for Spring Summer 2017 is the wet sleek look and this can be worn in many ways. A selection of designers used slicked back hairstyles to complement their spring summer collections and whilst Thakoon sent models down the runway with tight, wet shiny top knots, Stella McCartney’s models showed off swept back sleek styles and Thierry Mugler’s models wore perfect glossy centre partings.

If you’re taking to the sea, you’re halfway to achieving this look, which makes it a great option for beach hair. Adding CO by Andrew Collinge Definer to towel dried hair will give hair a shiny sleek finish for longer and its unique gel serum formulation will help control frizz, smooth down flyaways.

All products can be purchased online here or in any Andrew Collinge salon.
